CEPES, as employer of the Social Economy, will be a strategic ally of the Government of Spain so that the capital of Toledo is an international benchmark in Social Economy. The appointment of Toledo as the European Capital of the Social Economy was agreed on May 28 at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Luxembourg Declaration, made up of 16 EU governments committed to the Social Economy. Toledo aims to reinforce the work already carried out by the previous European capitals of the Social Economy, Madrid 2017, Maribor 2018 (Slovenia) and Strasbourg 2019 (France) with the challenge of making visible and promoting the European Social Economy.

CEPES presents the study “The contribution of the Spanish Social Economy to the SDGs. IV Report on the experience of Social Economy Companies in Development Cooperation 2017-2019 ”, prepared and disseminated thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and the Ministry of Labor and Migration and Social Affairs. The report collects data and more than 50 business experiences of the Social Economy that demonstrate the commitment of this business fabric to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a greater impact on those related to employment, the reduction of economic inequalities and social, local development, gender equality, access to quality education for all people or the inclusion in the labor market of groups in exclusion.

CEPES publishes today the new edition of the report 'The Social Economy in postgraduate university education: academic year 2019-2020' which indicates that 65% of the universities consulted take a course on entrepreneurship, creation and management of Social Economy companies. The study carried out includes a total of 131 postgraduate training actions and 3 doctorates that are being offered in this academic year. The report for the first time collects information on 15 chairs of Social Economy active in Spanish Universities.

Barcelona will host on November 22 the II Mediterranean Forum of the Social Economy, which will be held in March of the 'Medaweek Barcelona 2019'. This II FORUM is organized by the Euro-Mediterranean Social Economy Network that has led CEPES since 2000 and the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Mediterranean (ASCAME). In this international meeting, the work that this business model performs in the countries of southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East will be analyzed and made visible. In them, there are more than 3.5 million companies that generate 15 million jobs.

The general director of the Amiab Group, Pedro Jesús Sáenz, and the Delegate of the Government of Spain in Castilla La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca presented the award to the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, at a gala held in Albacete yesterday by the defense, development and promotion of the Social Economy both in Spain and in Europe.

The ESMED network, an entity that coordinates CEPES since 2000, shows its support for the call of the Ministries responsible for employment of the 43 States of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in favor of the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean ecosystem favorable to the social economy that unleashes the potential of these companies and entities, as reflected in the final declaration of the Ministerial Conference on Employment and Labor of Cascais (Portugal) on April 2 and 3, 2019.

This was announced by the High Commissioner for the Social and Solidarity Economy and for Social Innovation of the Government of France during the meeting held in Strasbourg by the Group of EU Governments that have established the Social Economy as a priority. In the framework of this meeting, important European and international events that will be celebrated throughout 2019 were announced.
