Representatives of the European social economy met in Brussels last Wednesday to celebrate the anniversary of the approval of the European Action Plan on Social Economy by the European Commission, which took place on December 9 last year. The event, which was organized by the entity that represents this business model in Europe, Social Economy Europe (SEE), and the Social Economy Intergroup of the European Parliament, was attended by different personalities who explained why this plan is an opportunity to promote this business model, create quality jobs and achieve sustainable development in Europe. That same day was celebrated the 10 years of the employers of the European Social Economy, an entity that took the opportunity to meet its General Assembly, which approved the entry of three new members.

CEPES expresses its satisfaction with the leadership of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy and the initiative of the Government of Spain at the event held at the United Nations headquarters last Friday in which the bases were laid to promote the first UN resolution on Social Economy. The event, called 'Contribution of the Social and Solidarity Economy to the SDGs and potential of a resolution of the UN General Assembly on Social Economy', was organized by the Government of Spain with the support of the ILO (International Labour Organization), UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) and the United Nations Inter-Agency Working Group on Social and Solidarity Economy

The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy showed on Wednesday the strength of this business model during the celebration of its XXX General Assembly. The president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño, has been unanimously re-elected for the third time, as president of Social Economy Europe (SEE), the highest representative entity of this business model in Europe. Pedreño will continue in office for 3 years and his re-election has taken place within the framework of the General Assembly, which SEE held blended in Brussels, with the presence of all its member partners. He begins this mandate at a time of consolidation of the European Social Economy as the company of the future and with the great challenge of placing Social Economy Europe at the heart of the European agenda.

Juan Antonio Pedreño was unanimously re-elected today as president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), within the Electoral Assembly held on the day.
