The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), has presented in Spain the European Action Plan on Social Economy. Specifically, he has transferred how the more than 50 measures of this plan, launched by the European institutions, can be transposed for execution in Spain. He did so this Thursday at an event, attended by almost 250 people from different countries and held in a hybrid way at the Bertelsmann Space in Madrid, with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy and in collaboration with the European Commission, Social Economy Europe and different regional governments, under the slogan 'The European Union's commitment to an economy at the service of people and the planet'.

This hybrid event organised by CEPES with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Labour and Social Economy will address the initiatives to be taken by Member States - such as Spain - to assure a successful implementation of the Social Economy Action Plan at national level.

This is one of the statements made by Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights of the European Commission, during the third edition of the UfM Workshop 'Towards a new Social Economy agenda for a sustainable and inclusive Mediterranean', organised by Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and CEPES hold last 4 November. This event brought together representatives and experts of the social economy from 20 different nationalities from Southern Mediterranean and European countries. The agenda of the workshop focused on the future European Action Plan for Social Economy and how this will strength the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the social economy.

Yesterday, in the city of Coimbra, the Iberian Social Economy Summit was held, in which the governments of Spain and Portugal signed a new ambitious and promising Memorandum of Understanding on the Social Economy, in order to strengthen common ties between both countries and promote this business model bilaterally between the two, as well as internationally. The Memorandum contemplates the following lines of action: - Specifies the role of the National Social Economy Councils as bodies for consultation and exchange of experiences on legislation, the Transformation, Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European Action Plan for the Social Economy. - Exchange of information for the realization of statistics and the definition of the methodology in the realization of reports. - Establishes the biennial periodicity for the celebration of the Iberian Social Economy Summit and undertakes to develop joint proposals to promote the presence of the Social Economy in the framework of the Ibero-American summits.

Today, the President of CEPES participated in the event organized by SpainNAB, in the round table "Reinventing capitalism from the social sector". In it, it has been shown that Social Economy companies are currently experiencing a window of opportunity, and will reach a change in scale at the end of 2021, when the European Action Plan for the Economy is approved. The Intergroup on Social Economy of the European Parliament, in a telematic meeting held yesterday before more than 400 personalities from the community institutions, from the Member States and from the entities of the Social Economy, places the European Action Plan for the Social Economy as a pillar of social and economic reconstruction after the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Social Economy Intergroup of the European Parliament has been formally constituted in Brussels supported by the five most important political formations of the European Chamber and more than 100 MEPs. Its objective is to promote a European agenda for this business model that will be marked by the approval in 2021 of a European Action Plan for the Social Economy announced by the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen.

Yesterday was the day 'Social Economy for the future of the European Union', which was attended by senior representatives of European institutions, MEPs from all political forces and spokespersons for this business model. The president of CEPES and SEE, Juan Antonio Pedreño, announced in the Global Social Economy Forum (GSEF) that the presentation of a proposal for a European Action Plan for the Social Economy, a business model he represents in the Union, has been held in Bilbao Nearly 3 million companies, 8% of GDP and 6% of the active population. The GSEF2018 has brought together more than 1700 people from 80 countries

On 28 June, the European Economic and Social Committee (CEPES) hosted the 2nd European Day of Social Economy in Brussels, bringing together senior officials from the European Institutions and Member States. They all called on the European Commission to include in its 2018 Work Plan the launch of a European Action Plan for the Social Economy.

In this event, the most important event held in Europe on Social Economy, there was unanimity between representatives of European Institutions, governments of EU countries and Spanish Public Administrations to bet on the Social Economy considering it a strategic business model to ensure cohesion Social and economic.

In the framework of the International Conference on Social Economy; organized by the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union to be held in Bratislava on November 30 and December 1, CEPES and SEE request the European Institutions approval of a European Action plan for Social Economy, which represents 2 million companies and 14.5 million jobs, producing 8% of GDP.

The European Parliament organized a meeting where senior officials from the European Commission, the EESC and the governments of Slovenia, Luxembourg and Sweden participated. As part of this meeting SEE CEPES and have asked the European Commission to draw up a plan of action for the European business sector, which has 2 million companies and organizations and 14.5 million jobs in Europe.
