This hybrid event organised by CEPES with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Labour and Social Economy will address the initiatives to be taken by Member States - such as Spain - to assure a successful implementation of the Social Economy Action Plan at national level.

Yesterday the European Conference 'The role of the Social Economy in job creation and the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights' was held in Sintra, Portugal, coinciding with the European capital of the Social Economy 2021 in Portugal. It was attended by Authorities from different European countries, representatives of the European Social Economy and Community Institutions. The resilience and rapid recovery capacity of the Social Economy business model in the hardest moments of the pandemic was one of the central axes of the day.

CEPES celebrates the renewal of the Council for the Promotion of the Social Economy, which was approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers and has been published today in the BOE through Royal Decree 117/2021. With this approval, the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy unblocks this Council, which has been inactive for 10 years and provides a solution to CEPES 'historic claim. This Council is one of the most important organs of dialogue with the Government in the Social Economy sector, which comes at an excellent moment due to the strong involvement of the Government of Spain and the Community Institutions towards this business model.

The Intergroup on Social Economy of the European Parliament, in a telematic meeting held yesterday before more than 400 personalities from the community institutions, from the Member States and from the entities of the Social Economy, places the European Action Plan for the Social Economy as a pillar of social and economic reconstruction after the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yesterday was the day 'Social Economy for the future of the European Union', which was attended by senior representatives of European institutions, MEPs from all political forces and spokespersons for this business model. In this event, Social Economy Europe delivered a memorandum of electoral proposals to the political parties that will participate in the European elections next May, with the aim of promoting this business model that represents 8% of the EU GDP and has 2 , 8 million companies and 13.6 million jobs. During the day, the unanimous support of betting on this business model as a tool for economic and social progress was confirmed.

On 28 June, the European Economic and Social Committee (CEPES) hosted the 2nd European Day of Social Economy in Brussels, bringing together senior officials from the European Institutions and Member States. They all called on the European Commission to include in its 2018 Work Plan the launch of a European Action Plan for the Social Economy.

It will be held on December 4 in the Economic and Social Council and will aim to meet the measures that the European Institutions will drive the next five years in the Social Economy.
