(Madrid, March 28, 2012). - The Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) applauds the words of support for cooperative business model, shown in yesterday in the full Senate by the Minister for Employment and Social Security, Fatima Banez, and Senator of the PNV, Lore Look Leanizbarrutia.

These expressions of support have been given after the question asked by Senator Basque Minister, in which the executive asked, "What do you think the Government at the 2012 International Year of Cooperativsmo?". After that Banez said that "from its portfolio is promoting the cooperative movement, but also working with the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy in various acts of recognition and some seminars to give value to what the cooperative movement in Spain, which is demonstrating its ability to keep more jobs, giving optionsmany people who are hurting in our country during the crisis. " Banez, said the Government fully agrees with the UN on the importance of this business model and the holding in 2012 the International Year.

Leanizbarrutia previously had been brought to the social economy as "a new way that has worked and can respond to the need to create jobs." Moreover, Basque politics has reminded all groups of the Senateand the Government to "help highlight the strengths of the cooperative system to make the venture possible." For the Senator, it is important to encourage and promote the cooperative formula in order to broaden the diversity of corporate structures.

Moreover, in his last speech, Banez has remarked that since the executive have been a number of measures including: capitalization of 100 100 of the unemployment benefit for those interested in becoming members of a cooperative; helplines cover the cost structure of cooperatives and associations promotingcooperatives, and of course, training at all levels of education, but also formation of cooperatives, "because the world of the cooperative is a world of stable employment, and we need jobs and stable employment in this country," added the Minister .

For Juan Antonio Pedreño, President of the employer's Social Economy, "this debate in the Senate is a clear awareness of the political and business class on the cooperative role in the creation and maintenance of stable and quality employment in times of crisis like the present."

CEPES is the largest institution representing the Social Economy in Spain, becoming a platform for institutional dialogue with the authorities.
