Unión Detallistas Españoles Soc. Cooperativa UNIDE, is a cooperative distribution company in the food sector with more than 90 years of life and more than 1,200 establishments in Spain.
Its origins go back to 1931, with the founding of GRUMA (formerly Ducpra) with more than 200 food retailer members from Madrid. In the 1960s it spread throughout the Community of Madrid, the neighbouring provinces of Castilla y León and Castilla - La Mancha; and in the 1990s it merged with 6 other Spanish cooperatives: ADA in Orihuela, LA SANTA FAZ in Alicante, SECUC in Cáceres, COISCA in Las Palmas, COMALTE in Tenerife and UDACO in Salamanca, giving rise to the current UNIDE.
It currently has 7 regional delegations, 2 main logistics platforms and 13 Cash Unide stores aimed at professional purchases in the hotel and catering sector on the Spanish mainland and the Canary Islands.
With around 700 members in 28 provinces, Unide works in more than 1,200 shops, of which more than 600 operate under its own brand: Unide Market, Unide Supermercados or Udaco.
They are committed to local commerce, to the satisfactory development of their partners' business as independent food retailers and to serving the communities in which they are present, promoting local products, providing employment opportunities and boosting the most uninhabited areas of Spain.
