"The development of sector dependence would provide an opportunity to create jobs"

In the present day, and in the context of the presentation of the report "Social Economy and DEPENDENCY CARE" has shown the potential of this sector to create jobs. In fact, the report reveals that it could create 635,000 jobs in the coming years. It also includes a battery of initiatives and measures which the Government CEPES send toto help develop the sector.

(Madrid, September 25, 2012.) - The president of the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño, Said this morning during the presentation of the study "The Social Economy and dependency care" that the "development sector dependence would create a significant opportunity for sustainable economic activity and employment."

The statement of the President of the Employers of Social Economy is based on data from the study, which show that, despite the economic crisis, social services have been one of the few sectors that have successfully maintained positive employment growth. Between the first quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2012, have created about 110,000 jobs, while in the same period in the Spanish economy as a whole have lost three million.

This study was presented by the Alternatives Foundation and has enjoyed the cooperation and funding of CEPES, Suara Cooperative Foundation and the Cajamar Foundation and Gredos San Diego Foundation.

The study, in addition to providing a picture of the background and status of the agency sector, contains a series of measures that would help strengthen it. Conscious of the economic situation, the president said CEPES be sent to the Government, to be launched when the economic scenario allowing it go.

The implementation of these initiatives for this sector still emerging, would create 635,000 jobs in the coming years, also becoming a niche optimal occupation groups with greater difficulties of access to employment (people over 50 years, youth, women, disabled people and groups at risk of exclusion.)

According to official data IMSERSO in early July 2012, more than a million people had already recognized the right to benefits and services of the Unit System, and more than 768,000 were receiving effectively. This shows that the progressive aging of the Spanish population, increasingly require more resources and specialized services to care for dependent people.

Companies in the Social Economy, acting traditionally come in providing services to the people in a dependent, even before they enter into force the law itself cooperatives, worker-owned companies, mutual funds, special employment centers, integration companies and sector associationsdisabilities, by their nature are located between the entities with the greatest impact in this sector, particularly in home help services and telecare, residential and day centers. The specialization of the social economy in these services is very significant, as shown in the report.

Therefore, the role of the social economy in the dependency care should be recognized in a special way, because these businesses have always been in the forefront for their commitment and to provide solutions to fill gaps that has always presented care for dependent people, added CEPES president.

Features of Social Economy companies to cover those holes and gaps on the sector,include: the wide territorial coverage with these businesses, environmental knowledge, experience, quality of service provided and the ability of human capital management, which results in a higher quality employment.

CEPES is the largest institution representing the Social Economy in Spain, becoming a platform for dialogue with government institutions. Its 29 members represent the interests of 45,093 businesses, represented 12.5% "?"?of employment and with a turnover exceeding 10% of GDP. Its partners with over 200 structuresregional, national or regional are organizations and business groups representing the interests of cooperatives, labor companies, Mutual, Business Integration, Employment Centres, industry associations disability and fishermen's associations.
