(Madrid, November 20, 2012). The Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) and the consultancy Economic and Social Analysts Abay (Abay) have organized this morning at a seminar in Madrid have shown that the socioeconomic impact with Social Economy entities. The study which has turned the symposium was conducted by Economic and Social Analysts Abay.
The aim of the event was to exchange experiences with regard to the measurement of different aspects of the contribution of Social Economy enterprises in both economic and social levels. Furthermore, it has also been claimed promote the transfer of knowledge from the university to the rest of society.
The opening ceremony was conducted by the Vice Chancellor of the University Extension URJC, José Manuel Vera, The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences URJC, Pilar Laguna and CEPES president, Juan Antonio Pedreño.
The seminar served as a meeting in which have been discussed a number of investigations have been ongoing and open new lines of research with the premise of achieving a better understanding of the social economy, particularly for his contribution to social cohesion and territorial.
With these new routes, is to find and make visible the potential of this way of doing business, especially in an economic situation like the present. Social economy enterprises are part of our surroundings and yet this closeness coexists with a significant lack of principles and, above all, of its significant contribution to society and the socio-economic scenario.
The value of the principles of the social economy has been widely discussed from different disciplines, including economics, but the difficulty of translating them into tangible and measurable effects has limited the theoretical approach. Therefore, the study by Abay has created a novel methodology to measure and display thepositive effects of the sector in social and territorial cohesion, as well as the monetary valuation of these effects related to Social Economy enterprises.
As most notable figure of the study should be noted that the total impact of the values "?"?of social economy enterprises (in social and territorial) stands at 4,000 million euros annually. The study provides direct benefits of about 2,845 million per year coming from the net revenues and perceived by families, businesses and governments related to the contribution of these companies to social cohesion.
Indirect benefits social cohesion, which correspond to expenditure which has been made "?"?possible by the differential behavior of social economy enterprises that are put at 560 million euros annually. This implies that the total benefits, direct and indirect, associated with the contribution to social cohesion amount to 3405 million per year.
In relation to territorial cohesion, the results indicate that the direct benefits amounting to 393 million euros, Of which the majority are net wage income of workers and the remainder is the personal income tax revenue collection and Social Security contributions. The above figures are added EUR 132 million in indirect benefits, For the savings and welfare benefits have linked to unemployment. Therefore, the total benefits for the territorial cohesion axis correspond around 525 million euros annually.
