(Madrid, November 15, 2013). - Four Spanish cooperatives and two business groups linked to CEPES partners are in the ranking of the 300 cooperatives in the world, according to the report of 2013 prepared by the World Cooperative Monitor.
The entities included in the ranking are Grupo Mondragón (industrial sector), Eroski and Consum (distribution) Espriu Foundation (health) ASCES Group (services) and Coren (Food).
CEPES president, Juan Antonio Pedreño, Stressed that "the inclusion of these entities in the ranking, which evaluates companies from 56 countries pointers, demonstrates the strength of the cooperative societies both Spanish, and globally, as they occupy prominent place in economic powers like the U.S., Japan , Germany or France. "
All of these entities have been included in the ranking of 'turnover on GDP per capita' prepared by the World Cooperative Monitor. It include cooperative companies known worldwide as Groupama, Rabobank, Crédit Agricole and Groupe Adlec-E. Leclerc, among others.
The study, which is available on the website of CEPES ('www.cepes.es' through the link: http://bit.ly/1abDcDh ) analyzed 2,032 cooperatives in 56 countries with a turnover of more than 1.85 together billion. Of these, the 32% are engaged in agriculture and food industry, 25% to insurance, 18% of the distribution (wholesale and retail), 9% to industry and supplies, 6% to banking and financial services , 6% to other services, 3% health and social assistance, and 1% for various services.
The World Cooperative Monitor project aims to make a database with multiple indicators that illustrate the socio-economic value and impact of cooperatives and other forms of social economy globally and in different regional and national contexts .
The Global 300 is driven by the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (Euricse) and the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), and produces the ranking in terms of both the companies billing as billing on per capita GDP .
