The Social Economy is reaffirmed as the business model of the future

This follows from the report that CEPES published every year on 'relevant Social Economy Enterprises'. This report, available on the web https://www.cepes.es/social/ranking, presents detailed information of 829 companies of the Social Economy 43,002 companies represented by CEPES. It aims to give visibility to your business model consists of cooperatives, labor societies, mutual societies, insertion companies, special employment centers and fishermen's associations

• In Spain there are more than 43,000 companies of Social Economy, accounting for 10% of GDP and 12.5% of direct and indirect employment.

 

• The published ranking of the Social Economy provides information of 829 companies, is available on the website https://www.cepes.es/social/ranking

 

(Madrid, January 11, 2017) .- The Social Economy held during 2015 and 2016 its strength in growth and job creation, with companies of all sizes and operating in all sectors of activity, as reflected in the report 'relevant Companies of Social Economy', prepared by CEPES.

This report, available on the web https://www.cepes.es/social/ranking , presents detailed information of 829 companies of the Social Economy 43,002 companies represented by CEPES. It aims to give visibility to your business model consists of cooperatives, labor societies, mutual societies, insertion companies, special employment centers and fishermen's associations.

"One of the highlights of the Social Economy that the report is evidence the existence of companies of all sizes, from micro and small businesses to large multinational corporations business, operating in all sectors of activity. Another important fact is that many companies in the Social Economy, leading sectors at regional, national and international level , "said the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño.

 

Relevant brands

The report notes the presence of significant brands Companies in the Social Economy in different sectors such as Financial Sector, Industrial, automotive, engineering, distribution and consumption, food, Health, Education, Construction, Industrial, Automotive, Tourism, Transportation Services , Commerce, Consulting, Textile or care for people.

The report also cleaves these 829 companies based on the different types of companies that are part of the social economy, such as cooperatives and labor companies, mutual societies, integration enterprises, special employment centers, which integrate in their workforce over 70% of people with disabilities, Associations disability and Fishermen.

The report includes seven major business groups in the social economy which employ more than 163,357 people. They are: Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar (credit unions), Atlantis Group (insurance) Espriú Foundation (health), Grup Clade Business Cooperatiu (multisectoral), Unide (distribution), Mondragon Corporation (multisectoral) and Ilunion Group (multi-sector).

 

Present and future

President of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, stressed that "the report once again highlighted the current strength and the great future that have the Social Economy companies, since they are competitive, viable, innovative and create jobs, wealth and social cohesion" .

Pedroza said "the Social Economy must become a structural element in economic policies, to reconcile economic rationality and social progress." Also, President of CEPES stated that "employees, workers and workers labor union members and partners grew in 2015 by more than 36,022 people."
