• The Swedish city will host the Conference 'What is the role of the Social Economy in the future of employment?' on the 16th of November.
• Its conclusions will be forwarded to the EU Heads of State Summit, which will adopt the European Pillar for Social Rights to be held the following day in Gothenburg.

(Madrid, October 26, 2017) .- The European Social Economy and EU institutions will analyze "the role of the Social Economy in the future of employment" at the international conference held in Gothenburg, Sweden. 16 November and its conclusions will be moved to the Summit of Heads of State of the EU to be held in the Swedish city on the 17th with the aim of approving the European Pillar of Social Rights. The aim is to value the contribution of this business model to economic growth and greater social cohesion.
CEPES will represent the Spanish Social Economy at the conference 'What is the role of the Social Economy in the future of employment?' , organized by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Council in collaboration with the Gothenburg City Council. This event will have high political representation, which will be observed with the presence of ministers and secretaries of state of Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden, as well as representatives of the European institutions and entities of the Social Economy .
Next to the institutional sessions in which several ministers and directors of the European Commission will participate, four panels will be organized during the event, which will analyze the impact of economic, demographic, social and technological changes in the development of the economy social policy, policies favoring the growth of these companies, their contribution to better and fairer working conditions, and the role of cooperatives in promoting financial stability, inclusion, technological innovation and environmental protection.
The president of CEPES and Social Economy Europe, Juan Antonio Pedreño , will speak at this session in the session on "social economy as a tool to achieve social resilience, sustainable jobs and fairer working conditions."
This event continues the Madrid Summit of May 2017 on "The Social Economy, a business model for the future of the European Union" and will mark the agenda of work in favor of the sector in the social policies of the EU.
The organization of this event coincides with the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union to be held the next day and which will approve the European Pillar of Social Rights , a proposal by President Juncker to build a more social Europe which favors a fairer labor market, foster greater equality of opportunity and increase levels of social inclusion and protection.
The Pillar is based on the objectives of the European Union to promote the welfare and sustainable development of Europe based on balanced economic growth. It has three large blocks and 20 areas of action to be implemented at Union level withor of the Member States, within their respective competencies. The aim of the European Pillar is to guide the achievement of social and employment outcomes in order to respond to current and future challenges in order to meet the essential needs of European citizenship.
