Madrid, March 23, 2018.- The Headquarters of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES) has hosted today the presentation of the ' Guide for the application of due diligence on human rights for companies' .
This electronic publication, prepared by the CIDEAL Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the MAEC, is a practical tool aimed at helping companies to develop a corporate policy of respect and compliance with human rights in their activities. in Spain as in third countries.
The 'Guide for the application of due diligence on human rights for companies' helps to make effective the Business and Human Rights Plan approved in 2017 by the Government of Spain. It offers a system for assessing the impacts of business activities on these rights and points out some steps to incorporate a due diligence process in the company, including a case study.
It was presented by Manuel Gómez Galán , general director of CIDEAL and by Emili Villaescusa , member of the CEPES board of directors. He also had the interventions of the project director of the CIDEAL Foundation, Hector Sainz Ollero and the diplomat and expert in Human Rights and Business, Carmelo Angulo Barturen , who noted that compliance with human rights offers companies a guarantee of success not only for its reputation, but also to ensure the viability and sustainability of its projects and the environment where it develops them.
