• 58% of the Spanish universities associated in the CRUE (44 out of 76) carry out a course on entrepreneurship, creation and management of Social Economy companies, in general or on any of their business formulas.
• The report is part of the development of visibility actions within the Spanish Social Economy Strategy 2017-2020, which was approved by the Government of Spain.
Madrid, November 14, 2018. The Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES) confirms that postgraduate training in Social Economy has been consolidated in Spanish universities.
The report 'The Social Economy in postgraduate university education: academic year 2018-2019' , prepared by CEPES, shows that 58% of Spanish universities associated with the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) do some course on entrepreneurship , creation and management of Social Economy companies, in general or on any of their business formulas. The study compiles information from a total of 115 postgraduate training activities and 3 doctorates, which are being offered in this academic year.
"This academic year has increased to 44 the number of universities with training in Social Economy (there were 38 in the previous edition), so it is still essential to insist on the support, promotion and dissemination of the existing training offer in this area, to achieve its universalization in the academic environment of higher education that exists in Spain ", said the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño.
Studies and specialized research continue to show that the educational offer of undergraduate and postgraduate courses linked to the Social Economy is still insufficient, so the academic sector should not relent in its contribution to support the promotion and dissemination of the existing training offer, as well as the increase of it from all the academic entities of higher education that exist in our country.
In this exercise, the report , which CEPES carries out since 2012, is part of the catalog of actions that CEPES develops within the Spanish strategic framework of the Social Economy 2017-2020, approved by the Government of Spain and whose ultimate objective is the implementation of instruments that promote the entities of the Social Economy, such as, for example, by increasing the visibility of social economy entities and disseminating their activity (Strategy Axis 8).
"This axis of the Spanish Strategy aims to generate instruments and mechanisms to increase the knowledge of Spanish citizens about the Social Economy and to make visible the weight, added value and contribution of these companies to the socioeconomic development of the country, especially through educational programs" , has affirmed the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño.
The publication, prepared by CEPES, takes a tour of the training offered after the degree in all Spanish universities and reflects that linked to the promotion and promotion of business formulas of the Social Economy.
"The focus of interest has been focused on those postgraduate courses related to collective entrepreneurship under this business model, in the management of companies and entities of the Social Economy, and in those other training activities thate generically, they are aimed at promoting entrepreneurship or the establishment of companies, but in which special attention is paid to the business models that make up the whole of the Social Economy, "said the president of CEPES.
