• In Andalusia there are 5,700 Social Economy entities and companies that invoice about 10% of the GDP of this autonomous community.
• With this incorporation, CEPES has 27 partners and is represented in one of the Spanish communities in which the Social Economy has more weight.
Madrid, January 8, 2020- The Board of Directors of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES) has approved the entry of AndalucíaEScoop as a new member member. With this integration, the Andalusian Social Economy will be represented in the Confederation. Not surprisingly, Andalusia is one of the Spanish autonomous communities in which the social economy has more weight, so its inclusion in CEPES is a sign of “the importance that Andalusia and the cooperative and Social Economy sector can have advocacy and represent this land in the national framework ”.
The president of AndalucíaEScoop, Juan Rafael Leal Rubio, highlights the importance of recognition by CEPES of AndalucíaEScoop as the collaborative platform created to boost the Social Economy in Andalusia and hopes that, together with the confederation, the necessary synergies can be created to continue with the achievements of both organizations.
Leal Rubio recalls that, since the creation of Andalusia more than a year ago, Escoop (currently made up of Cooperatives Agro-Alimentarias, Faecta, Amecoop and AMCAE Andalucía), has worked to give the platform its rightful place within the national representativeness of the Social Economy. "With the integration in CEPES, we have great support when interacting with administrations and defending the policies that prevail in the Social Economy and Cooperativism," adds the president.
The president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño , emphasizes "the important weight, in employment and number of companies, which Andalusia represents within the Spanish Social Economy". "With this incorporation, the Andalusian Social Economy will have an active participation in the activities and strategy that currently CEPES has marked both state and international level", qualifies.
The integration of AndalucíaEScoop in CEPES implies knowing firsthand the progress and actions of all the international activity of CEPES, mainly of Social Economy Europe and the Mediterranean Euro Network of Social Economy, international entities that are led by CEPES at the moment.
Pedreño shows his satisfaction for the growth of the associative base of CEPES in 2019, where in addition to AndaluciaEScoop, LABORPAR, a representative entity of the Labor Societies in Spain, joined. These two accessions, together with those expected in 2020, will continue to strengthen institutional representation.
