The "Social Economy Roundtable" holds its second meeting focused on ERTES and Activity Cessations

The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) held their second meeting of the "Table of the Social Economy", established on May 14. In this meeting, of a technical nature, doubts about ERTES and cessations of activity in Social Economy companies were resolved, as well as transferring some approaches to the Director General of Autonomous Work, Social Economy and CSR, Maravillas Espín and the Director General of Work , Verónica Martínez. On behalf of CEPES, the President of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the employers of the Social Economy attended.

• At a meeting in which the general director of Self-Employed, Social Economy and CSR, Maravillas Espín, the general director of Labor, Verónica Martínez and the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, accompanied by a delegation from the Board of Directors, as employers of the Social Economy.

• The objective of this meeting was to analyze and resolve doubts about ERTES and Cessations of Activity and to propose approaches to the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, since the fundamental objective of this instrument is to generate and maintain jobs.

• The President of CEPES assured the Director General of Labor that "ERTES and cessation of activity of Social Economy companies have served to keep jobs" and points out that "100% of jobs will be recovered in the de-escalation for the degree of commitment of people to their business project, which proves the resilience of Social Economy companies ”.

 

Madrid, May 25, 2020.- The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) held their second meeting of the "Table of Social Economy", established on May 14. The President of CEPES stressed “the importance of this meeting, since it has allowed to resolve doubts about the ERTES and cessation of activity requested by the Social Economy Companies and to transfer proposals to the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy on certain specific and sectoral cases that are they can pose in the phases of de-escalation ”.

The "Social Economy Roundtable" is created as a tool to contribute to the Social Dialogue of Government and social agents, contributing to the demands of the Social Economy sector in the short, medium and long term for the recovery of employment and for reindustrialization, in addition that it will make visible and promote the key role that Social Economy Companies have in the economic recovery.

 

Upcoming meetings

The director of Social Economy, Maravillas Espín and the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño proposed several topics for the next meetings, so thatThat progress can be made in the measures proposed by CEPES for the recovery of employment and companies in Spain, such as facilitating the transfer of commercial companies to Social Economy companies, mainly cooperatives and labor companies. "Pedreño recalled that for transmit ownership of the company to workers, it is essential to address some legislative improvements such as the Bankruptcy Law.

In addition, it was analyzed the convenience that other Ministerial portfolios could participate for future meetings, as well as those responsible for Social Economy of the different Autonomous Communities, so that coordinated measures could be analyzed and implemented to promote this business model in the territories.
