Murcia, October 19, 2022.- The president of the Region of Murcia,Fernando López Miras, has indicated that "betting on the socialeconomy is betting on sustainable and safe growth". This was done on Tuesday within the framework of the Boardof Directors of the Spanish BusinessConfederation of Social Economy (CEPES), which was held in Murcia on the occasion ofthe First International Congress ofSocial Economy, which is takingplace this Tuesday and Wednesday in the capital of Murcia.
During the event, which was also attended by the Minister of Business, Employment,Universities and Spokesperson of the Region of Murcia, Valle Miguélez, it wasstressed that the social economy business model represents 10% of regional GDP in the Region of Murcia. López Miras insisted that this territory"will continue to be a benchmark in social economy" and showedthe willingness of the regional government to help families of this businessmodel.
Healso stressed "the importance and resilience of this model, which ischaracterized by its roots and territorial cohesion", and especiallyhighlighted the role of social economyenterprises, which, as he said,"have been an example during these two and a half years of pandemic,showing their ability to be sustainable and resilient".
For his part, the president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, said that"we are in one of the regions that has managed to reactivate this businessmodel in the European agenda", referring to the boost that Spain is givingto the model in the rest of Europe.
This region is currentlyexecuting the V Pact for the Social Economy of the Region of Murcia 2021-2024, which was signed by the regional organizations Ucomur (Union ofCooperatives of the Region of Murcia), Ucoerm(Union of Teaching Cooperatives of theRegion of Murcia), Fecoam(Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia), Adeirmur (Association of Insertion Companiesof the Region of Murcia), Fecamur (Union of Agrarian Cooperatives) and Amusal (Business Association ofLabor and Investee Societies of the Region of Murcia) together with theregional government. The Fifth Pact presents a budget of more than24 million euros with the objective of creating 5,000 jobs and 1,000 companies inthree years.
