Madrid will host at IESE Business School the presentation of the study 'How partnerships strengthen the social economy'

Madrid will host on February 9 the presentation of the book 'How alliances strengthen the social economy', written by África Ariño, holder of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Chair of Strategic Alliances at IESE Business School, Xavier López, consultant in Alliances and Social Economy; Teresa Buxeda, research assistant at IESE; Jordi Carillo, manager of the José Antonio Segarra Foundation and business consultant; and Esperanza Molins, director of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation. The president of CEPES, Juan Antonio Pedreño, author of the prologue of the book, will give a presentation. It will be at 6:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the business school in Madrid (Camino del Cerro del Águila, 3).

·        This study aims to be an aid for reflection and action that contributes to making visible the potentialities of the social economy business model and analyzing how alliances can further boost these companies.

·        During the event  , the president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño – author of the prologue – will address the European challenge of the social economy.

·        It will be presented at the headquarters of IESE Business School (Camino del Cerro del Águila, 3), onFebruary 9 at 6:00 p.m.

Madrid, 25 January 2023. - Madrid will host on February 9 the  presentation of the book  ´How alliances strengthen the social economy´, written by África Ariño, holder of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Chair of Strategic Alliances at IESE Business School, Xavier López, consultant in Alliances and Social Economy;  Teresa Buxeda, research assistant at IESE;  Jordi Carillo, manager of the José Antonio Segarra Foundation and business consultant; and  Esperanza Molins, director of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation. It will be  at 6:00 p.m.  at the headquarters of the business school in Madrid (Camino del Cerro del Águila, 3).

This study aims to be an aid for reflection and action that contributes to making visible the potentialities of the social economy business model and analyze how alliances can further boost these companies, which represents 8% of GDP in  the EU and 10% of GDP in countries such as Spain and France.

During the event, Professor Ariño, who will present the study, and the president of the Spanish Business Confederation of the Social Economy (CEPES), Juan Antonio Pedreño – author of the  prologue – will address the European challenge of the social economy.

The welcoming ceremony will be given by the secretary general of IESE Business School, Jaume Armengou, and the closing ceremony will be given by the president of the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation, Joaquim Molins, and the director of Development of IESE, Natalia Centenera.

The authors of the study point out the strength of the social economy business model that, in Spain, generates 2.1 million jobs and more than 43,000 entities,  including cooperatives, labor societies, mutual societies, insertion companies, special employment centers of social initiative, fishermen´s associations and associations of the disability sector.

The study illustrates, through twelve experiences that  accompany the report, examples of alliances in the social economy that show how they can strengthen the business model of the Social Economy.
