(Madrid, March 11, 2015) .- The Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) recalled that social economy enterprises promote efficiency in public expenditure management and the quality of care for people in situations of dependence.

The Minister and head of the Department of Unit CEPES, Carlos De la Higuera, Said in the V International Congress Unit and Quality of Life, organized by Age & Life Foundation, which "social economy allows, with its business management services for the elderly, a substantial reduction in public spending in these areas, while improving service. "

"In addition, companies in the Social Economy generate services that cater to dependents and provide solutions to unmet needs in principle by the public sector or the private mercantile" said De la Higuera.

CEPES remember that Social Economy enterprises play an essential role in collaboration with public entities in areas of education policy, health, social security and social services in general (as service providers). In addition, the Social Economy facilitates the provision of social services supply andcoordinated and continuous medical support, flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of citizens.

In this regard, De la Higuera said that "the activities of the Social Economy materialize in a portfolio of services that respond to situations of dependency in environments with an increasingly complex and severe social problems". "Besides," he added, "aimed not only cater to people whoin a situation of dependency, but contribute to remedy the socio-family burden that caring for a person with this profile requires".
