Madrid, December 22,2022.- The Spanish Business Confederation of Social Economy (CEPES) haspresented the report ´The Social Economy in postgraduate university education.Academic year 2022-2023´.
According to thisreport, in the academic year 2022-2023, Spanish universities have offered 76postgraduate training actions, 19 chairs and 3 doctorates related to the economíasocial, which represents a total of 98 actions.
The document, carriedout annually by CEPES, shows the different modalities of existing training inthe field of social economy, including both courses directly linked to thisbusiness model and those that contemplate the social economywithin its programmingand curricula or that focus on one of its different legal modalities.
According to the study,62% of the courses analyzed offered specific training in social economy and the remaining 38% contemplated in theirprogramming or in a part of the curricula subjects related to business modelsframed in the concept of ocial economy.
It should be noted that both the modality and the subjectsrelated to social economics have varied over the last few years, incorporating new concepts inthe training programs more in line with the new trends. Thus, acomparativeanalysis over time since 2012, the year in which the study began to be carriedout, shows how concepts such as social entrepreneurship, circular economy, sustainability or innovation have been acquiring a greater role to thedetriment of other issues framed in concepts such as social intervention orassistance (dependence, cooperation, etc.).

UNIVERSITY WEEK OF THE SOCIAL ECONOMY
This report also includes this year some initiativesthat, although a priori were not contemplated in the classification of typology of postgraduatecourse, do constitute a focus of interest because they are training activitieslinked to the academic world that promote research, the meeting or exchange ofknowledge and experiences around the economia social.
This is the case of the third edition of the´University Week of the Social Economy´, organized by the Spanish Interuniversity Network of Institutes andResearch Centers in Social Economy (ENUIES), a body chairedsince 2003 by the Center for Research in Business Management (CEGEA) of theUniversitat Politècnica de València (UPV), and convened by the InternationalCenter for Research and Information on Public Economics, Social and Cooperative (CIRIEC).
This week, which in its last edition had the collaboration of 36 universities, aims to expose to the university and research community the possibilities ofemployment and self-employment that this business model entails, generating aplace of rapprochement between the educational center and the sector to promotethe transfer of knowledge and generate sectoral and social innovation.
NEED FOR TECHNIFICATION
As conclusions of this report, from CEPES point out that, although more and more Spanish universities and centers are expanding the rangeof possibilities, the offer is still limited and with some room forimprovement.
In this sense, it appeals to the involvement of allacademic, political andsocial agents, so that more universities and other centers join the teaching and researchof this business model to establish a specialized and broad offer that"contributes to create, administer and manage with high professionalrigor, the companies and entities of the social economy of the future".
"This greater presence in the training actions offered, both inuniversities and in other centers orinstitutions, shows the importance ofinvestigating and analyzing this interest in the social economy in the academic field in order to, not only expand, promote and disseminate theexisting training offer, extending it to all stages of higher education. , willgo further and providetechnology to future managers of companies in the social economy," they conclude.
